Glory Glory Man United

After a failed attempt at writing this post, i start afresh. Since my yahoo and Gmail accounts have been hacked quite inexplicably and unbelievably, i have been in a not so goody mood. So i had to create a fresh account and what not, but i have survived and so i shall continue to do. After about 9 days off, its finally time to go back to college tommorrow, and i am not really looking forward to it, i mean who does??

Anyways, after a drab holiday week, and India somehow firing in cricket, it was time for another drab sunday, and another game, and another day of BAD telivision. Ofcourse, the rest of it stayed the same, but the evening game of Man U v Chelsea lived upto its billing, if not more. Hardly have i ever seen a more competitive game, with fierce tackles, closing down, desparation, scrapping, this game had it all. Ofcourse there was grea football too, quality beyond the realm of any words. After a wretched week, Man U won, their goal led a charmed life throughout the game and more so in the second half, with Chelsea pretty much throwing it all at them, including the kitchen sink and the bath tub. They continued to fight, and surive, the hero, was the unlikeliest of them all, Darren Fletcher, a young scot, who is often overrated, sometimes underrated & overly criticised, pullled off a missile like header, which loooped and dipped over the defenders and goalie alike into the corner. That was all that was needed apart from the good luck. Crisis it was for a week, drubbing and a sad result in europe meant that much too much was written even before a ball was kicked.

Anyways, the indian team flattered and decieved in the same game, the usual, as they say, but today shall be the day when Fergie finally beat Jose Mourinho, something that he had failed to do in the last 6 games, and kudos to Sir Alex and the boys.....

agree wholeheartedly about serie a being less supported and more deadly and violent, EPL is a bloody market, not a footy league

OK, two suggestions.

A> read this book called "the of Castel di sangro" by Joe McGinniss. Opens one's eyes about Italian football, and what it really entails.

B> EPL is sad. And yes, AC, Inter and Juve rock alright. Fiorentina is good. but the rest of them are not too good. Sudden upstarts may get them a great year or two, but then they invariably fall back. The football, but for the free flowing milans and Juve (or, let me rephrase, Nedved) is quite defensive. La Liga is where the real stuff happens. Wrote a post on it once. Have a dekko.

Oh, and nice post. And although I have mentioned previously that the only place devils (red or otherwise) belong in, is Hell, am happy to hear that ManU won. Good for Arsenal.

i think that strength of the antional team is what truly defines the quality of a league.

serie a leaves the la liga far behind in that area.

yes, the la liga is spectacular, but there is nothing that can beat the tactical battles of the serie a.

true followers of the game know that the EPL is all about money, although Wigan may have thrown in an exception, but the team which spends most wins.

inter is just a dumping ground for real madrid failiures... they dont have the killer instinct that milan and juve possess.

@ sinfully- wil agree to all the lord says, except arsenal cant play if thier life depended on it, barring henry who can make the goalie score if he wanted to, all r injury prone dandies

@ nikhil - desi foot ball needs a uplift, last time i heard mohun began had beaten the east yorkshiremen regiment

@ishaan- tu mera dost hai, par mere blog par maar peet mat kar, chimera, pls identify urself in future :)

@ bharat- serie A is a bore, what tactics yaar, the whole bloody bench is out defending and suddenly on the break teams score a goal. And Real Madrid failures dont win euro player of the year

this weekend was a prime example why epl is so much more entertaining...
shud have seen the 2 games:-
arsenal vs blackburn
WHU vs ManU
pure attacking football at its best...
also saw serie A.. fiorentina vs roma... boring football at it very best.. evn fulham were and are more entertaining...

neways the best 2 leagues are epl and la liga(thanx to barca, the most pleasing sight in world football at the moment(frm a ManU fan) and the emergence of villareal)

and my identity - i am rahul(qc secy iitd) ... saw ur bloz coz of ur post on rendezvous which was very high on a rendezvous search

ok, chimera or rahul, whichever u like the more

nice to have u here, i agreee serie A is bore and highly overrated, spain is the best and EPL will give it a run for its money, EPL is slightly more predictable.

neways long live Man U , from one fan to another.

keep dropping by

PS: have we met in person, are u kartick's frd by any chance??
